The Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation, and Conservation District hired the GIC with funding secured by the California Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Our task was to map and calculate the areal extent of eelgrass in Humboldt Bay. |

| In September, 2000, true color and color infrared aerial photography was flown for Humboldt Bay in northwestern California. The GIC created a series of color digital orthophotos of the bay. These orthophotos were sampled using PCI Geomatica image processing software. Each pixel identified represented 1 sq. meter of eelgrass. |
