Flying Carpet |

| CSU, Chico's Geographical Information Center (GIC) was involved in an unusual art project last year for the Sacramento International Airport. The project was proposed by Seyed Alevi, a San Francisco Bay Area artist trained at San Jose State University and the San Francisco Art Institute. |
Summary |
|---|
| The project integrated an aerial view of the Sacramento River that was woven into a carpet and installed on the floor of the pedestrian bridge connecting Terminal A and the parking garage. The image represents approximately 50 miles of the Sacramento River between Colusa, California and a point just south of Hamilton City, near Chico. The GIC provided a color digital mosaic of the river and Ulster Carpet of Ireland produced the carpet. The piece is appropriately titled Flying Carpet and is a snapshot of the river with associated riparian vegetation and surrounding agriculture. More information can be found at Seyed Alevi's website |
