The Geographical Information Center (GIC) at CSU, Chico,

was established in 1988 to introduce digital mapping and geographical information systems (GIS) technology to the northern California region and to provide valuable on-the-job training and employment opportunities for our students.

The Center's mission is both academic and service oriented. Our staff includes GIS professionals with extensive GIS training mentoring qualified graduates, student assistants and interns. We run our own intranet and are connected to the multi-campus CSU-Net, giving us state-of-the-art networking capability.

Our primary areas of expertise include GIS technology, digital cartography and orthophoto development. We also have experience in airphoto interpretation, image processing, global positioning systems (GPS), and serving GIS data over the Web. Because we are affiliated with California State University, Chico, the GIC can also draw specialized expertise from the academic community.

The GIC is located on the first floor of the 35 Main Building in Downtown Chico on the eastern edge of the beautiful California State University, Chico campus, next door to North State Public Radio.
